Okay, so, I asked Zero from FTLD what I should review next, and he said JJ Demon's mixtape, LIVE Backwards. I first heard JJ Demon when I heard What's Good by DDC:). I liked him, so I joined his mailing list and got his song I'm Back, and I was hooked on JJ Demon, I also really like R.I.P. Everybody. But enough stalling, here is my review on live backwards by JJ Demon.
Track one is called The Rain, and while the lyrics are amazing, the song itself is kind of boring. And is it just me, or does this sound like an anti-religious song? I am not religious so I don't care, and it has the most amazing lyrics, that I don't care that it's boring.
Track two is called Growing Up So Fast and this song sounds more like a typical JJ Demon song. And is it just me, or is JJ Demon making more emo songs while looking less and less emo? I really like this song, and the beat is fantastic!
Track three is called Falling In Reverse featuring Potent Da Rockstar, and I half expected a cameo from Ronnie Radke, and as much as I love this song, I have a few problems with it. First of all, I had a hard time telling JJ and Potent apart, and second, I can hardly understand the chorus. Besides that I love this song. Both verses are great, and the beat is sick.
Track four is called Get Weird, and just from the beginning I knew this was gonna be a super emo song, and the chorus only reinforced that theory. The only part I didn't like was the "Let's go for a riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiide" that part was just annoying. This was a good song, and I liked it.
Track five is called Young Hearts and honestly, this is starting to sound more and more like a concept album. I mean, with Growing Up So Fast and Young Hearts, and also, Get Weird and The Rain, these songs fucking connect. This is an okay song, but... it did get a little annoying. Now don't get me wrong, I like this song, but it gets the tiniest bit annoying.
Track six is called Play God, and between the endings connecting to the next song, and all the anti-religious songs, this is starting to sound even more like a fucking concept album. This is a great song and I love how the beat is so electronic, overall, great song. It could offend his christian fans though, oh, wait, what christian fans?
Track seven is called Bugs In My House, and I really don't get this song, I mean it could be a drug song, but I'm just not sure. It sounds like he wrote it while ON drugs. If that's true, then it's pretty good, for a drug song. Maybe it's just too deep for me to understand, but I like it (even though I have no fucking idea what it means!).
Track eight is called I'm In Here featuring Kyle Lucas and Syd Vicious, and I don't think it was a good idea to start a JJ Demon song with another guy rapping. I mean Dr. Dre didn't rap a lot on Kush, but at least he came on first! Then Finally after one long verse of Kyle Lucas, JJ Demon comes on and he ROCKS it!!!!
And the third verse... sucks! It's too gangsta for a JJ Demon song. I mean there's good rhymes in there, but he's yelling and it doesn't go with the soft beat.
Track nine is called 100 Bars Of Awesome Sauce, and I just don't get the name. I like the song and the rapping is great, but I don't get the name. It's just weird. But otherwise, the song is great. But I can't help wondering why there's no chorus. I love the choruses in his other songs, and I just wished there were a chorus in this song.
Track ten is called Purple Flip Flops featuring Big Choco, and this may just be the best song on the album (so far). I love the rhymes, I love the beat, the lyrics are fucking amazing. I dunno who Big Choco is, but I can't hear him on this track, but it's fine without him.
Track eleven is called Like A UFO featuring Mary Magdalan and N!tro, and I don't know who this Mary Magdalan chick is, but she's fucking amazing!!! I wish she has a bigger part. But JJ Demon has an amazing part too!!! And I love all the pop culture dissing. And this is the first time I've ever heard N!tro sing, and I like it (But his rapping is shitloads better!!!).
Track twelve is called Palpitate, and it seems like track ten and up is amazing!!! This isn't as good as Like A UFO, or Purple Flip Flops, but it's still amazing. My only problem is, at times, he raps to fast for me to understand, but that just means he's talented. I like that this song has multiple levels. And the only other problem I have is it gets a little repetitive.
Track thirteen is called Johnny, and I like how he raps so fast, yet it's still good. Fast rapping isn't always good rapping, and good rapping isn't always fast rapping, but this is fast rapping, and it's still good rapping!
The lyrics are good, the beat is okay, and the rhymes are amazing. My problem with this song, is it's too short. I'd like it if it were longer.
The fourteenth and final track is called We're All Dying Anyway, and this has got to be the most emo song on the album besides The Rain. It's good, but kinda boring, compared to Like A UFO and Purple Flip Flops (I know I keep praising those songs, but that's cuz they're the best on the album!!!). The rhymes are good, the lyrics are good, the beat is okay, and it was a good way to end the album.
Now here is a new part of my reviews
